Gray-hooded Gull NO- A.K.A. Worst Luck Ever!

Today me and Zach Smart (fellow CT young birder)  spent 7 hours on the Coney Island boardwalk (11 – 5) looking for the Gray-hooded Gull, with no luck.  The bird wasn’t seen at all today, except for a possible report from early this morning.  The Palm Tree fountain was off most of the day, which may of disrupted the birds schedule.  I ask myself- “why did it half to be today, when it is usually an easy twitch?  WHY TODAY!”  If it sticks around, I may have to try for it again.  If today was the end of it’s time here in America, then we should bid farewell to one of America’s most amazing avian sightings, ever.

  1. Aw Man, frustrating I know. All I can say is: it happens. I twitched that damn Le Conte’s Sparrow in Milford FIVE times last year and missed it. That’s twitching for ya. Happens.
