Cape May Overview

I just got back from 4 days birding in Cape May.  Along with birding friend Joyce Cloughly (NJ), and Chris Vogel from Cape May we observed 111 species.   This tally could have been higher, but bad winds (SE) kept warbler migration down and high water levels reduced the available habitat for shorebirds kept the total numbers of species low.

That being said, I got 3 lifers, one an incredible rarity.  I’ll put the trip in 2 posts, each one half, including some photos I took this weekend, some of the best for me ever.  Kayaking the marshes out to Delaware bay from Jakes Landing was another adventure, and one I’ll chronicle here.  The posts will be up soon!

Good Birding and Happy Migration!
